This was enjoyable.

I always liked the Phantom Stranger. Sure, he was a bit Deus Ex Machina for me but what the hey, the idea behind him ROCKED. I liked the thought of an eternal wanderer who could only lead people down the right path, never able to take the path himself no matter his abilities.

Cryptic as always, the Stranger helps Deadman(Boston Brand) and gets his body into Nanda Parbat. All he says about the body is that it’s important.

Simple story.

Cover: BEEE-AUTIFUL
Art: Wow-ness
Story: Cryptic

Recommendation: Not for everyone

AVENGERS VS. ATLAS # 1 – I am an AoA pimp
SPIDER-MAN 1602 # 4 – oy vey I need to get #3

Admittedly, I’m a Cyclops fanboy so this will be short.

The two most compelling Origins stories have been Iceman’s and THIS ONE. No, I am not letting my fanboyism get the better of me.

What made these two stories work is the fact that both stories show WHY those two ended up the way the are now.

This story shows the immense responsibility Cyclops had to carry very early on. Shows how much he had to endure from the very beginning, the challenges he had to face.

There’s a reason why Cyclops was ranked #1 among all the X-men, higher than even Prof. X. It’s summed up in the last two lines of the comic, “I’ll lead the X-men. I’ll lead them all.”

Cover: CLASSIC
Interior art: Respectable
Story: Fanboy full-auto

Recommendation: Read if you’re a fan.

My friends want to get me to HR6 or 7 ASAP.

A night of gaming, eats and talk.

What more do I need?

what happens when superheroes as a community go down the wrong path? What happens when there is no gold standard to look to and strive for? What happens when Superman leaves the world behind?

It’s a darker time, with darker heroes to match. Superman’s return throws everyone for a loop and sets off an apocalyptic chain of events. What happens is anyone’s guess.

Most people will get this simply for the art. Alex Ross’ art is not only beautiful but he also add SO MANY fanboy tributes that comic book fans will be left drooling.

After last week’s shopping spree I decided to tone down my comic purchases this week and as such…
